This is currently considered to be a purple congressional district. This is a critical seat that Democrats must hold onto in order to regain control of the House. In 2024, the Democrat, Marcy Kaptur, won this seat with a margin of 0.6 percent, or only 2,382 votes, over the Republican, Derek Merrin. Meanwhile, in 2024, Trump won in this seat by 7 percent.
An estimated 225,665 eligible voters, or 37.6 percent, did not vote at that election in Ohio District 9, and 15,381 voted for a third (or fourth) party. There are also 20,712 in this district who have turned 18 since 2024 and are now eligible to vote!
