In 2024, the Republican, Darrell Issa, won this seat with a margin of 18.6 percent, or 66,960 votes, over the Democrat, Stephen Houlahan. An estimated 176,275 eligible voters (32.9%) did not vote at that election in California District 48, and – voted for a third (or fourth) party.
