In 2024, the Republican, Tom Barrett, won this seat with a margin of 3.7 percent, or 16,763 votes, over the Democrat, Curtis Hertel Jr.. An estimated 143,448 eligible voters (24.1%) did not vote at that election in Michigan District 7, and 14,231 voted for a third (or fourth) party.
