In 2024, the Democrat, Gabe Vasquez, won this seat with a margin of 4.2 percent, or 11,032 votes, over the Republican, Yvette Herrell. An estimated 228,563 eligible voters (46.3%) did not vote at that election in New Mexico District 2, and – voted for a third (or fourth) party.
