In 2024, the Democrat, Tom Suozzi, won this seat with a margin of 3.6 percent, or 12,958 votes, over the Republican, Michael LiPetri. An estimated 196,866 eligible voters (35.2%) did not vote at that election in New York District 3, and 780 voted for a third (or fourth) party.
