In 2024, the Democrat, Don Davis, won this seat with a margin of 1.7 percent, or 6,307 votes, over the Republican, Laurie Buckhout. An estimated 195,631 eligible voters (34.2%) did not vote at that election in North Carolina District 1, and 9,949 voted for a third (or fourth) party.
