This is considered a Purple race for Senate. It is not a priority race for Democrats, and it would be a long shot for the Democratic candidate, Scott Colom, to win this race. However, since it is certainly possible that he could win here, vote swappers should not risk being a spoiler in this race.

Private polling in April 2026 showed Colom just 3% behind the Republican incumbent, Cindy Hyde-Smith, who is increasingly unpopular in Mississippi.
