This is currently considered to be a purple congressional district. This is a critical seat that Democrats must hold onto in order to regain control of the House. In 2024, the Democrat, Henry Cuellar, won this seat with a margin of 5.6 percent, or 13,373 votes, over the Republican, Jay Furman. Meanwhile, in 2024, Trump won in this seat by 7 percent.
