Minnesota is traditionally a BLUE state, voting Democratic in Presidential elections. But the current US Senate race is considered PURPLE because it is a critical seat for Democrats to hold onto if they are to re-take control of the Senate. Meanwhile, US House seats in the Twin Cities area (MN-2, -3, -4 and -5) are reliably BLUE, while the rural districts (MN-1, MN-6, MN-7 and MN-8) are reliably RED.

This is a Purple Senate race. The Republicans are hoping to take this seat and deny Democrats a majority in the Senate. This is a must-win for Democrats! Progressive Democrat Peggy Flanagan is up against conservative Republican Michele Tafoya. It could be a close race, so every vote for the Democrat matters!
