Swap your vote

I vote in a Purple state:

If you live in a PURPLE, potential “battleground” state (i.e. PA, MI, WI, AZ, NV, GA, or NC) and are considering voting third party or not at all, you can swap your vote with someone in a “safe” RED or BLUE state. This means promising to vote for Harris in your state, where it matters to the final outcome of the election, in exchange for someone else voting for a third party candidate of your choice in a RED or BLUE state, where it will add to the total votes for your candidate!

I vote in a Red or Blue state:

If you live in a solid RED or BLUE state, and want to help defeat Trump, you can also swap your vote with someone in one of the PURPLE “battleground” states. This means promising to vote for their preferred third party candidate in your state, in exchange for them voting for Harris in their state, where it matters very much in terms of the outcome in the Electoral College.

I vote in a Marginal state:

And if you live in a “marginal” LIGHT RED or LIGHT BLUE state, you can choose to play it safe and vote for Kamala Harris and swap your vote with someone in a RED or BLUE state, or you can choose to take a risk and swap your vote with someone in a PURPLE and vote for their preferred candidate in your state. More help on that is here.

The goal of vote swapping is three-fold:

  1. It can help prevent Trump from getting back into the White House, which would be an unmitigated disaster for the whole world.
  2. It sends a clear message to Kamala Harris that she can only win the election with the help of people who want urgent and serious attention given to the existential threats facing humanity and that she does not have a blank check to continue with business as usual.
  3. It signals to the rest of the country that the time has come to move beyond a broken two-party system that does not give voters a real choice besides choosing between the lesser of two evils. Other candidates, like Jill Stein, represent a real alternative but have no chance of winning under the current Electoral College system.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up here if you are willing to swap your vote. We need people from Red and Blue (and also “marginal”) states as well as people from Purple states to join this effort!
  2. Vote Swapping works by connecting two people who want to swap votes. You can input as much or as little information about yourself as you feel comfortable, and then choose someone from the opposite “category” (Red/Blue or Purple) to connect with. You can then engage with the other person until you feel comfortable agreeing to swap your vote with them.
  3. When it comes time to vote in the general election, vote as you agreed with your VoteSwap partner and ask your VoteSwap partner to do the same.

Is vote swapping legal? YES!! It has been tested in court and the ruling was in favor of vote swapping as a First Amendment right of all citizens. See more…

Is vote swapping enforceable? NO!! It is based solely on trust, so the ideal is to swap your vote with someone you already know. Alternatively, you can swap personal details and build a relationship on Vote Swap before agreeing to swap votes (see above).
